The Executive Team isresponsible for day-to-day operations. They ensure that the Board's vision is turned into reality by overseeing FEIH programs, fundraising, and marketing initiatives.
Nina Antani - Director of Marketing
Nina Antani serves as the Director of Marketing & Communications for a Miami-based financial technology company called Inxent. She has diverse experience cultivating messaging across legal, non-profit, corporate, and start-up environments. Prior to joining an early stage company, Nina honed her skills as both an IP Litigation Case Assistant at Kirkland & Ellis and a Shareholder Services Associate at BlackRock. Nina has a passion for volunteering and has worked with many entities and organizations including Save the Children USA, Planned Parenthood, The US Senate, and Chess in the Schools. Nina graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Public Policy.
Brooke Bowen - Director of Operations
Brooke Bowen has over five years of project management experience in the legal and financial sectors, starting her career as a case assistant at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and then moving on to operations roles at BlackRock, Inc. and currently TPG. She has a bachelor's degree in Economics from DePaul University, with a focus in Spanish language. The daughter of a teacher, Brooke has always held education in the highest regard; in addition to her involvement with FEIH, Brooke volunteers with and supports a number of educational-focused charitable organizations including: Chess-In-The-School College Bound and Essay Busters NY.
Laura Chung - Director of Fundraising
Laura Chung a native New Yorker, works on the investor relations team at TPG Capital. She has a Masters of Science in Organizational and Industrial Psychology from Alliant University in San Diego, CA. She knew she wanted to be a part of the FEIH Team after a life changing trip to El Progreso, Honduras; she accompanied Ramiro to visit the Santiago Morales school before it opened. Laura is an avid traveler and writes a travel and food blog.
Maryam farooq - development & marketing Strategist
Maryam Farooq is the founder and director of New York Artificial Intelligence (NYAI), an events based networking group focused on learning & discussing trends in artificial intelligence. She also serves as a business development consultant for several ventures, and does freelance web design projects. Prior to NYAI, Maryam was a product consultant for a machine learning startup (Machine Colony), and also worked on special project, account management, and business development for several tech start-ups. Maryam is passionate about supporting charitable organizations with a focus on education, and has been an instructor for Figure Skating in Harlem, as well as a tutor for KIPP NYC. Maryam graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels!) with a B.A. in Economics. She is a native New Yorker, has a deep interest in permaculture & sustainability design, and loves to travel.
Debbie Kakanas - secretary
Debbie Kakanas a Senior Legal Assistant at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from New York University. She works in the General Litigation department of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and is a seasoned trial paralegal. Debbie assisted the team in setting up FEIH’s 501(c)(3) status, and supports many charitable organizations.
SUSIE METSCHER - Co-Pen Pal Director
Susie Metscher began her career teaching in Thailand and then taught for the New York City Department of Education in the Bronx for seven years. Three years ago, she began teaching at Monroe College in the Bronx preparing pre-service teachers for a career in urban education. She holds her Master’s degree in Literacy and School Building Leadership and is currently working on her doctorate in Special Education.
Tim mosher - co-pen Pal Director
Tim Mosher has taught for the last thirteen years in multiple locations including a private bilingual school in Thailand and a charter school in Harlem. He currently works as a Dual Language teacher in White Plains City School District teaching fourth grade students. The Dual Language program supports students in becoming biliterate and bilingual in both English and Spanish. He holds a Master’s degree in Literacy and is currently working towards a Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification.
